Abstract
Analysis and evaluation of the performance of public transport systems, especially the bus lines, is of great importance in traffic engineering. Management methods, such as the allocation of special lines, regular bus scheduling, optimization of delayed signaling intersections along the special lines and prioritizing bus traffic, will increase the efficiency of bus systems and enhance the willingness of citizens to use public transportation. This study aims to evaluate the performance of bus special lines in terms of quality, traffic and transport indicators. To this end, with different field surveys as well as traffic reports, the special line of Rasht was compared by 44 statisticians inside the buses and stations in two time shifts, considering information such as the number of passengers transported, travel speed and performance, travel time, stop and waiting time for bus passengers combined with ideal conditions and values. In order to model the travel time of the special bus lines, the signaling intersection of the signalized intersection along the studied path was taken at peak time with respect to traffic cameras. The results demonstrated that the special lines of Rasht are far from the minimum standard, and with the increase in the number of buses to 11 fleets, it is possible to provide faster traffic conditions for the bus system.
